Pink Isn't Always Pretty, Inc. (P.I.A.P.), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created in 2009, in memory of our late sister, Kimberlly Thomas, who ended her fight with Triple Negative Breast cancer on February 29, 2008. Her spirit, her struggle, and most importantly, her courage, while braving the toughest battle of her life, is one that many other women of color who have suffered with breast cancer, know all too well. While we applaud the work of existing breast cancer and health awareness foundations, P.I.A.P. recognizes the unique ways in which breast cancer affects communities of color. P.I.A.P. endeavors to present the faces of those communities of color affected by breast cancer to the public in an effort to stimulate awareness, public policy change, and empowerment.
P.I.A.P.’s mission is to provide a national community of support for women of color coping with breast cancer through raising awareness, education on healthy living and encouraging freedom of expression. Our vision is to develop a network of communities dedicated to providing financial, educational and moral support to women of color and their families as they battle breast cancer together.
Toward a cure...
