Pink Party 2008

The first ever pink party.  PIAP wasn't even in the picture yet.  Kim had just passed away and, well, it'd been a hard year.  The kids had just come to live with me and we were adjusting slowly but surely.  October came along and I found myself angry at all the survival stories I watched on television.  "Why couldn't Kim be one of them?," I kept asking myself.

But, as time went on, I decided that my feelings of resentment wouldn't bring her back and they certainly wouldn't help her kids.  Given the history of breast cancer in our family, we'd never let an October go by without doing something to spread awareness.  So, with just 10 days left in the month, I asked the kids what they wanted to do for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Tiffany, Kim's daughter, said, "let's have a pink party."

And there it began.  Just a few people getting together talking about Kim's life, legacy and the lessons we'd like to pass on.
